Lebanese army fires back at Israeli forces for first time, source says
The Lebanese army has fired back at Israeli forces for the first time since the conflict began a year ago, a Lebanese security source has told Reuters.
The army itself said it fired at the "source" of an Israeli strike on a Lebanese military post in the south that killed one of its soldiers.
The news comes just hours after the army reported another Lebanese soldier was killed and one injured after being targeted by an Israeli strike while on a rescue mission with the Red Cross.

Iran accuses G7 of being 'biased and irresponsible'
Iran has accused the G7 of being "biased and irresponsible" after the group issued a statement condemning its attack on Israel, according to an Iranian foreign ministry statement.
G7 leaders voiced "strong concern" over the Middle East crisis, warning that a region-wide conflict was in no one's interest.
The group, which is made up of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US, also said a diplomatic solution was still viable.
The White House said that the G7 "unequivocally condemned Iran's attack against Israel".
Lebanese soldier killed in Israeli strike during rescue mission, says army
A Lebanese soldier has been killed and another has been injured in an Israeli strike, Lebanon's army has said.
It said the soldier was carrying out a rescue mission with the Red Cross in southern Lebanon at the time.
Earlier this week, the army said a soldier had been killed when an Israeli drone struck his motorbike near an army checkpoint.
Hezbollah effectively controls southern Lebanon despite the presence of the Lebanese army.
Historically, the Lebanese Armed Forces has stayed on the sidelines of major conflicts with Israel, and it has not fired on the Israeli military since its conflict with Hezbollah erupted last year.

Number of people killed in Beirut strike rises to nine - health ministry
The number of people killed in an overnight strike in Beirut has risen to nine, the Lebanese health ministry has said.
A further 14 people were injured, with four still being treated in hospital, it added.
The authority previously reported six were killed in the attack in the Bachoura district.
The airstrike targeted a building that houses an office belonging to the Health Society - a group of civilian first responders affiliated with Hezbollah.
The building was just metres from Lebanon's parliament.
It was the second airstrike to hit central Beirut this week and the second to directly target the Health Society in 24 hours.
Israel said it had conducted a precise airstrike on the city as it targets Iran-backed Hezbollah militants who pose a threat to Israeli security.
Israeli military issues urgent warning to more than 20 Lebanese towns
The Israeli military has issued an urgent warning to more than 20 towns in southern Lebanon.
Spokesman Avichay Adraee said residents need to evacuate the areas immediately.
The areas are located north of a United Nations-declared buffer zone established after the 2006 war, signalling that there could be a broadening of Israel's incursion.
"Hezbollah's activities force the IDF to act forcefully against it," he said.
"The IDF does not intend to harm you, so for your safety, you must evacuate your homes immediately and head north of the Awali River. Save your lives."
Evacuations have been ordered in several areas since Israel launched its ground operation in Lebanon earlier this week.
