Vorkath Hunt: Guard and Lantern was a time-limited event that allowed members to earn Vorkath Necromancy weapon override token. It took place between 20 November and 3 December 2023.
During the event, players had the opportunity to obtain Vorkath shards by completing various tasks. There were 12 different tasks, each of which awarded a single shard per completion. Players could choose which tasks to complete, and the task to kill Vorkath could be repeated infinitely to earn one or more shards. Players could combine eight shards to receive a Vorkath Necromancy weapon override token by taking them to Mr Mordaut inside Fort Forinthry until the end of 10 December 2023. The token can be redeemed for cosmetic overrides, traded to other players or sold on the Grand Exchange.
The event was similar to the Golden Cape Hunt and Golden Partyhat Hunt events, however it was the first of this format to allow the player to repeat a single task to earn multiple shards (up to and including all eight). Additionally, the cosmetic rewards will not be exclusive to the event; players who do not obtain them before the event ends will be able to obtain them as rare drops from killing Vorkath.

Notes for obtaining[edit source]
- Only members can obtain shards and receive the cosmetic overrides.
- The Vorkath task is infinitely repeatable and can be completed during the Battle of Forinthry quest as well as in story, normal, and hard modes.
- The first shard is given after one kill; subsequent shards require 30 kills.
- The other tasks can only be completed once.
- Players who have already completed Dead and Buried will automatically receive their shard upon logging in.
- Using protean items works for the Gathering and Artisan tasks.
- Using silverhawk boots does not work for the Support task.
- If a shard is obtained when the player's inventory is full, it will be placed in the bank.
- If a shard is obtained when the player's inventory and bank are full, it can be reclaimed from Mr Mordaut.
- Training at a Clan Citadel does count for respective skills.
- Players can receive the support shard from Prifddinas serenity posts.
- Players can receive non-support skilling shards from skilling in Daemonheim.
- Players can receive shards even if the experience for the relevant skill has been blocked by speaking with Nastroth.
- Players that are already subscribed to Premier Membership will automatically receive their shard upon logging in.
- Soul Reaper counts as Slayer tasks.
- While there is an element of randomness to collecting the shards, they also have in-built "bad luck" protection. As the player continues to train skills, kill bosses, or complete clue scrolls, the likelihood of receiving a shard grows exponentially. The "bad luck" protection is bound to each task separately, meaning the chance of getting a shard from one task can be higher than another, depending on how many times a roll for a particular shard has been failed.[1]
- For the Combat, Gathering, Artisan, and Support tasks, players are guaranteed to receive a shard after three hours of training in each skill.
- For the Clue task, players are guaranteed to receive a shard after gathering 90 points. Easy steps provide one point, medium steps two, hard steps three, elite steps four, and master steps five.
- For the Boss task, players are guaranteed to receive a shard after earning 2,500 Marks of War.
- For the Wilderness Flash Events task, players are guaranteed to receive a shard after completing 15 events.
- For the RuneScore task, players are guaranteed to receive a shard after gaining 200 RuneScore. If a player has over 31,000 RuneScore already they will earn this shard on earning any RuneScore.
Other benefits[edit | edit source]
Completing the Hunt also grants all players—including Ironman Mode players[2][3]—the following buffs:
- Infinite Porter: Provides infinite signs of the porter (which transport valid items to the bank when gathered)
- Passive Regeneration: Causes life, prayer, and summoning points to regenerate outside of combat
These buffs start once the eight shards are combined—not upon receiving the eighth shard—and will be active for 14 days from that moment. Both buffs can be toggled individually by talking to Mr Mordaut or Mordaut Jr. Neither toggling off a buff nor logging out pauses the 14-day timer.
